Mcqueen Spring/Summer 2011

I finally got a chance to look at Mcqueen's spring/summer 2011 fashion show. Overall I thought it looked great and really was a nice addition to her fall/winter show. Some key things I liked:
  • Loved the jackets with the seams at the top undone, a new look that is refreshing and deconstructive yet also modern and sophisticated.
  • The dresses were fantastic. I love how she uses Mcqueens textiles but gives it her own tailoring touch. Definitely speaks to the whole patterns/prints trend going on right now. And even with the black dresses, the patterns are distinct enough they make a bold statement.
  • I love the contrast between the dresses. Some looked more conservative while others looked more liberating and flowed so well, the movement was so airy and looked like they were meant to be worn in the hot weather.
Again, overall I loved it all. Very creative and I really think she is doing a great job for the house of Mcqueen.

  2. Was the Alexander Mcqueen/Sarah Burton SS 2011 your favourite of the season?

  3. Well I'd have to say my favourite is YSL's SS2011. YSL just awed me with his ideas. But Mcqueen had a great show too.

  4. Amazing creations! Not so sure about the animal prints but adore the embellishments and cuts.

  5. I'm on the fence with the animal prints too, but some people can pull it off. I think Sarah Burton is really refreshing!

  7. yeah the dresses were so ethereal, its a contrast from her fall/winter one which was definitely more hard edge.
